Search for a 69-year-old diabetic woman who disappeared two years ago Sunday remains open, a Murfreesboro Police spokesman said.

Marsiline “Marcie” Smith was reported missing Dec. 6, 2007 from her home on Village Green Circle by her husband, Glover Palmer Smith, 73. Her Lincoln SUV was fond the next day in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Rutherford Boulevard.

Her husband faces charges of giving police false information about her disappearance to falsely affect the course of an investigation.

Smith was scheduled for trial in October but the case was continued until Jan. 19.

Family members searched the area near her home. Officers located her purse and cell phone about two miles from her home. Police followed a map to a possible burial location in West Tennessee but didn’t locate her body.

Because the case remains under investigation, Murfreesboro Police spokesman Kyle Evans said he could not give many details about the case.

“We’re not giving up,” Evans said. “As the second year anniversary of Marcie Smith’s disappearance, will still have an investigation active pursuing leads in the case.”

Leads have stalled with the passage of time.

“Rest assured, we will not give up,” Evans said. “This case will remain open until we find out what happened to her and hold those responsible for her disappearance accountable.”

I surely hope this case is resolved. It is clear this woman's disappearence was the result of a deliberate and likely premeditated act. It is reasonable to believe the authorities have a prime suspect and are gathering evidence against the same.
Let's all trust the guilty will be apprehended and punished.

I agree Soc, I think the police know who is responsible but are having a hard time with factual evidence.

It wasn't for the money, unless she was leaving him. Palmer is very wealthy.
