Sammie Eugene Scott passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the age of 80 after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Liza Bell and Sam Neal Scott; brothers, R.W., Edward and Alvie Scott; and sisters, Sarah Bratcher, Martha Davenport and Mae Fisher.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Myrtle Viola (Jackson) Scott; daughters, Carol (Andy) Turner, Wanetta Scott, Jennifer (Bill) Waggoner; son, Jeffery Scott; brother, Loyd (Lorene) Scott; sisters, Opal Hankle, Betty (Bob) Roberts; brother-in-law, Marvin (Johnnie) Jackson; grandchildren, Wayne (Cricket) Bowman, Angela (Stu) Hollins, Penny (Keith) Barrett, Whitney McGill, Mitch, Brandy and Marissa Scott; great-grandchildren, Candace, Dallas, Dillon, Dalton and Dakota Bowman, Kyle and Summer York, Autumn Barrett, and Thatcher McGill; great-great granddaughter, Kaylee Bowman and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved friends, Buddy and Myrtle Bean and James and Virginia Jernigan.

Sammie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was employed 36 years at Jennings Tire Company as Foreman of the retread shop. He had a love for animals, collected Hot Wheels, played softball and gospel music with his friends. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Special appreciation to Bishop Eugene (Juanita) Weakley, Joseph M. Scott, M.D. and Alive Hospice for their loving care.

Services for Sammie will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 12:00P.M. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Bishop Will Blythe officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Nephews and grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 6:00P.M. until 9:00P.M. at Jennings & Ayers, 820 S. Church St, Murfreesboro, TN. 37129. (615) 893-2422
