Approximately 200 guests packed the Tower Club at MTSU’s Floyd Stadium on July 30 for “Saddle Up”, a benefit for Project Help.
Saddle Up secured more than $30,000 for Project Help, a 20-percent gain over last year’s event and a record yield for the fundraiser. Project Help Board of Directors Co-Chairs Jack and Sandy Mitchell announced the totals at a recent gathering of board members.
“This year's Saddle Up for Project Help was truly a team effort, showing once again that amazing results are possible when people work together,” Project Help Director Susan Waldrop said. “We're excited about having many more friends with us this year; Saddle Up 2009 is our most successful fundraiser yet. We are grateful-especially considering the bleak economic situation that many are experiencing and thank all who helped us succeed.”
The record fundraiser is especially timely for Project Help, as the organization’s funding from traditional agencies and sources has been cut significantly due to the flagging economy. The current recession has left many charities and non-profit organizations struggling to stay afloat.
Project Help is an early intervention program that offers services free of charge to families who have very young children with developmental delays or disabilities. To learn more about Project Help, call 615-898-2458, or visit http://www.mtsu.edu/projecthelp. |
