Mark your calendars for “Saddle Up for Project Help.”
Slated for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 29 on the Tower Club Level of MTSU’s Floyd Stadium, proceeds from the event will benefit Project Help, Rutherford County’s only center-based early intervention program. For only $50 per ticket, guests will be treated to a fun, casual Western-themed evening; jeans, boots and cowboy hats are most welcome.
Entertainment will include the music of Daniel Rothwell, a young banjo player who has performed at venues across the country, including the historic Ryman Auditorium, and Indie artists “Jack and Diane,” who have made their mark on Music Row and make frequent appearances at The Bluebird Café and Center for the Arts.
Nashville artist Arthur Kirkby, whose work has been featured at Nashville’s Art Crawl, will be on hand to create a painting during the event. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on his art, among many other items, in the silent auction.
The highlight of the evening will be the live-auction of a fashionable playhouse. Terry Haynes donated the materials for the playhouse, which features the craftsmanship of Terry Gum. Excitement will build as parents and grandparents outbid each other for the chance to have this gorgeous treasure in their backyards!
Project Help Director Susan Waldrop already has a plan for proceeds from the event.
“Our goal for the 2010 ‘Saddle Up for Project Help’ is to have start-up funding in order to take purposeful steps to acquire a larger building,” she said.
Sponsorships for “Saddle Up for Project Help” are available, and are open to individuals as well as businesses; the deadline for sponsorship is June 15. For information on sponsoring the event, contact Project Help Advisory Board Co-Chair Sandy Mitchell at: sandym1626@hotmail.com.
