| Rutherford County stars make Mr. & Miss Basketball finals |

On Wednesday, the TSSAA announced the 2013 Mr. and Miss Basketball finalists were announced and it included three local stars, including two from Riverdale.
In the Division I Class AAA, two out of the three finalists were from Riverdale, Olivia Jones and Alexa Middleton for the state's top individual award. The pair will be up against Nina Davis from Memphis Central.
While in the boys Division I Class AAA, Blackman's Darius Thompson was selected as a finalist for Mr. Basketball.
He will be going against Robert Hubbs from Dyer County and Nick King from Memphis East.
Derrick Spears from Middle Tennessee Christian also made the top three in Class A.
The girls Miss Basketball will be announced during the championship award ceremony after the Class AAA title game on Saturday March 9 at the Murphy Center.
While the Class AAA boys Mr. Basketball will be presented a week later at the same location after the their title game.
The nominees were selected by a group of coaches and a committee of media members based on the players performance on the court and their academics and character in the classroom. |
