Rutherford County Schools names 2012-2013 Teachers of the Year

Forty-five teachers will be honored among their peers and families on March 27 after being selected as the Teachers of the Year for Rutherford County. 

Each school each selects a Teacher of the Year annually. From those teachers, the district selects three as the grade-level winners, one from elementary, middle and high school. 

Those three teachers will then proceed as Rutherford County’s representatives in the regional and state Teacher of the Year recognition program. The Tennessee Teacher of the Year will be named next fall.

A reception for the Rutherford County Teachers of the Year will be held on March 27 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro with Director of Schools Don Odom presiding. 

For 2012-2013, the following teachers have been named the system level Teachers of the Year:

    •    Shannon Holland  - LaVergne Primary School
    •    Sharron Hofer - LaVergne Middle School
    •    Kelly Wester - Smyrna High School

The following teachers have been selected as Teachers of the Year for their schools:

    •    Sheralee Riddle  —  Barfield Elementary School
    •    Jana Hawkins  —  Blackman Elementary School
    •    Justin Smith  — Blackman High School
    •    Kimberly Vondohlen  — Blackman Middle School
    •    Jenna Rose  — Brown's Chapel Elementary School
    •    Jon Kimbro  —  Buchanan Elementary School
    •    Stacey Harp  —  Cedar Grove Elementary School
    •    Allen Nichols  —  Central Magnet School
    •    Tricia Cahoon  —  Christiana Elementary School
    •    Christina Tibbs  —  Christiana Middle School
    •    Patricia Elaine Smith  —  Daniel-McKee Alternative School
    •    Ashley Hughey  —  David Youree Elementary School
    •    Pamela Ledwell  —  Eagleville School
