The previous year was an advantageous one for Rutherford County and 2014 looks to be one with much promise as well.
When it comes to jobs, Rutherford County saw over 2,300 new jobs created and $283 million in capital investments were made by the relocation or expansion of companies operating in the county.
These numbers come into play through key moves such as the Amazon move to Rutherford County. The Fortune 500, Seattle-based company announced plans to add an additional 500 positions at its Murfreesboro distribution center in 2013. The facility, which has over 1,000 employees opened in September 2012.
Also on the Rutherford County hot list was Schwan Cosmetics and Calsonic Kansei North America.
Schwan Cosmetics released plans to consolidate its operations by building a new facility in Murfreesboro. With this facility, the company will be able to house its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing operations all under the same roof. The total investment totals $38 million along with employment numbers that will top 450 over five years.
Calsonic Kansei North America is a vital Nissan supplier and looks to invest $109 million and create 1,200 new jobs in its three Middle Tennessee facilities over the next three years. Around 183 of these jobs will be in the Smyrna facility.
The county also racked up several other accolades as Forbes ranked the Nashville/Davidson/Rutherford MSA as number five on its list of Metro Areas with the Most Economic Momentum going into 2014.
In the same manner, CNN Money ranked Rutherford County number 11 in Where the Jobs Are Ranking.
