Fleet Feet of Murfreesboro will hold the second annual Run Chikin Run charity race in September sponsored by Chick-fil-A Murfreesboro benefiting impoverished communities around the world.
In partnership with humanitarian organization World Vision, Run Chikin Run proceeds will help the world’s most vulnerable people, making running feel better than ever.
“We chose to work with World Vision because we believe in their purpose and mission,” said Cortney Bartemus, Chick-fil-A’s marketing director. “We specifically want to help the victims in Haiti, Chile and locally in Nashville, who have suffered from the tragic events of this past year.”
Since the disasters, World Vision has raised $108.05 million dollars to Haiti and Chile’s rebuilding efforts.
The 10k (6.2 mile) race participants will start at the new Gateway, pass through the Stones River Battlefield and back through the scenic Gateway to the finish line. The top two male and female racers in each age bracket will receive free Chick-fil-A sandwiches for a year.
Race forms can be picked up and dropped off at Fleet Feet Sports in Murfreesboro or runners can register online at Active.com. Register before Sept. 1 for a free, gender-specific racing shirt. registration fee is $30 or $40 the day of the race.
The race begins at 7 a.m. Sept. 11. Time: 7:00 am
