On Sept. 11, the Murfreesboro Chick-fil-A and Fleet Feet Sports of Murfreesboro played host to the second annual Run Chikin Run 10K, which raised $14,000 for World Vision and local charities.
The race doubled proceeds raised by the previous 2009 Run Chikin Run 10k. The race benefited World Vision, Special Kids and CASA.
In partnership with humanitarian organization World Vision, Run Chikin Run proceeds will help the world’s most vulnerable people, making running feel better than ever.
“We specifically want to help the victims in Haiti, Chile and locally in Nashville, who have suffered from the tragic events of this past year,” said Cortney Bartemus, Chick-fil-A’s marketing director.
Since the disasters, World Vision has raised $108.05 million dollars to Haiti and Chile’s rebuilding efforts.
The 10k (6.2 mile) race participants started at the new Gateway, passed through the Stones River Battlefield and back through the scenic Gateway to the finish line. The top two male and female racers in each age bracket received free Chick-fil-A sandwiches for a year. |
