| The Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency has been notified by the State of Tennessee that Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding has been made available to Rutherford County residents who were impacted by the May flooding in 2010 under Presidential Disaster Declaration.
This funding allows residents who were impacted by the flood and who are located within a floodplain, to submit to their local jurisdictions a request for application for acquisition.
This acquisition funding may allow residents who qualify the opportunity to be relocated out of the flood zone.
This is a matching grant which is spread out in a 75 percent federal, 12.5 percent state and 12.5 percent local government split.
Funding is based on a calculated proportional share of the total federal assistance the area received from Public Assistance and Individual Assistance programs in the May flooding disaster.
The share for each jurisdiction is:
• Rutherford County: $686,539
• Murfreesboro: $684,054
• Smyrna: $291,641
• La Vergne: 179,854
• Eagleville: 3,826
Due dates for the cities or county to submit resident applications to the state is March 31.
Therefore time is of the essence if you wish to file for assistance.
If you were impacted by the flood and your residence is located in a flood plain, and you wish to apply for assistance, contact the local government official where your residence is located.
For the cities this would be the city manager, and the county the office of the mayor. |
