Rutherford County has once again made the nation’s list of fastest growing counties.

According to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Friday, Rutherford is the 57th fastest growing county in the nation. Last year it made the list at 65.

Since the 2000 census, the county has added 67,247 or 39.6 percent to its population, making it the fastest growing county in the state. Williamson and Fayette counties also made the Top 100 list, adding 35.4 percent and 32.6 percent respectively.

Given the changes and growth in the community since 2000, here’s a table of selected characteristics found by the census in 2000 and the American Community Survey in 2007.

Certainly nothing to brag about, we don't need newcomers unless they take care of all the extra cost they cause.

I'd rather be in a fast-growing county than one that's dying. Wouldn't you rather be here in Rutherford County than in Detroit? Many places in this country are losing people and jobs, and stores are closing up. This is much better. More people living here means more shoppers and more job creation and more tax revenue.

In all seriousness, where is the Latino subgroup's numbers in this census? Was that an oversight by the American Community Survey? We have a strong, and yes legal, community of citizens not represented on this census unless they're in the OTHER category. That category shows a significant increase that needs to be explained in order for the data to be reliable. Thanks.
