The Rutherford County Commission met briefly Wednesday to nominate a new chairman.

A vote by acclimation reappointed Mayor Ernest Burgess for another term.

The commission also elected a new steering committee with all seven nominations passing with acclimation.

Steering Committee members include: Adam Coggin, Trey Gooch, Steve Sandlin, Jeff Phillips, Jeff Jordan, and Gary Farley.

The Steering Committee quickly met in an adjacent room to elect Adam Coggin as chairman and Jeff Phillips as vice chaiman.

The Commission also voted to confirm the mayor’s appointments to the Regional Planning Commission.

The commission approved Will Jordan, Steve Sandlin, Rhonda Allen and Jeff Phillips.

Commissioners also signed their oaths of office.

The next scheduled meeting of the full commission is Sept. 16.
