There was a slight overcast and 50-degree temperatures on Sunday afternoon as the Rutherford County Christmas Parade rolled down East Main and around the historic square.
The Murfreesboro Fire Department’s honor guard carried the colors to lead the parade.
“It’s difficult to estimate the number of spectators, but it was more than previous years,” Parade Coordinator Angie Walker said, but officials estimated that approximately 50,000 the parade route.
Best Float Church or School
Scout pack 452 won this award. In addition to the float, another 30+ scouts walked with their entry. The float shows a boat with Cub Scouts fishing and having fun.

Business and Industry Award
Coldwell Banker Snow and Wall Realtors took the prize in this category.

Best Walking Entry
Dance Works won the Best Walking Award.

Chamber Award, also Best Civic, Scout or Social Award
Cub Scout Pack 538 took both the Chamber Award as well as the Best Civic, Scout and Social Award. It depicted how Old Glory gives us freedom. Under the flag are members of Boy Scout Pack 538.

Best Vehicle Entry
The Hale family’s 1931 Model A Ford Roadster received this award.

Walter Hale waved from the passenger seat. He and his family have been a part of the Christmas Parade now for 40 years.
Mayor’s Cup
The entry from the Stones River National Battlefield brought to life a historic print found in an 1862 edition of Harpers Weekly.
