Roy V. Leverenz, age 76, of Smyrna, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, June 17, 2011.
He died in the loving care of his family and friends at his home. Caris Healthcare assisted in his transition with the family’s special thanks to Angie and Misty. A native of Detroit, MI. he is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Karl and Marie Gertrude Wummel Leverenz. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Robert, Fred, Thomas and Bruce; and his sisters Jane Marie and Shirley.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Stones River Baptist Church in Smyrna. Bob Bush will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
Mr. Leverenz is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice; daughters and son in law, Jill and Richard Tokarsky of Alexandria and Louise Nicodemus of Murfreesboro; son and daughter in law, Andrew and Carrie Leverenz of Arlington, TX.; grandchildren, Jay and Karl Leverenz of Arlington, TX.; brothers and sisters in law, Harry of Reliance, TN., Donald and Della of Tucson, AZ., Henry and Therese of West Branch, MI., John and Ellie of Detroit, MI., Frank and Samantha of Ypsilanti, MI. and sister and brother in law, Betty and Mike Towler of Ypsilanti, MI.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Leverenz was a member at Stones River Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Leverenz was a graduate of Redford High School in Detroit and received a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Detroit. He was a retired Manager of Engineering with Teledyne “Stellram” Advanced Materials.
The deacons from the church will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. 459-3254 Online condolences can be made at www.woodfinchapel.com
