NEW ORLEANS – Middle Tennessee freshman women’s basketball forward Ebony Rowe has been named as the Dec. 14 Sun Belt Player of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday. Rowe’s honor is the second of her young collegiate career after she won the season’s inaugural award Nov. 16.

The Lexington, Ky., native averaged 18.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg in the three Blue Raider contests during the week just before final exams. She reached the 20-point plateau twice and converted 23-of-39 (59.0 percent) of her field goals to go along with five assists and three steals.

She began the week at UCF Tuesday with 20 points and nine rebounds, all on the defensive glass. She knocked down 9-of-12 (75.0 percent) of her field goals, handing out three assists and swiping two steals in 33 minutes.

Rowe then returned home and led Middle Tennessee with 13 points and eight rebounds against No. 4/5 Xavier Thursday, while adding a blocked shot against the taller Musketeers.

Her week concluded with 21 points on 9-of-13 field goals (69.2 percent) and seven rebounds in the home win over defending Colonial Athletic Association champion James Madison Sunday.

Rowe’s selection is the 27th by a Blue Raider under head coach Rick Insell and the 38th overall in program history. She is the seventh Middle Tennessee player to garner the accolade multiple times.

The Blue Raiders return to action at the UTSA Holiday Classic in San Antonio Dec. 20-21. Middle Tennessee will face St. Bonaventure at 4 p.m. Monday and square off against Big 12 foe Kansas State at 5 p.m. Tuesday during the two-day tournament.
