MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- MTSU's Ebony Rowe earned first team Capital One Academic All-District honors as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.
The Lexington, Ky., native boasts a 3.74 grade point average as a physics major and garnered a spot on the six-person District 3 team, which comprises athletes representing institutions in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Her minors include engineering and business administration.
Rowe said she has aspirations to attend graduate school and plans to pursue a career in professional engineering.
Rowe became Middle Tennessee's all-time leading scorer on Jan. 25 with her 17 points against Old Dominion. The senior forward has amassed 2,158 points in her career and holds eight other school records.
Currently, Rowe ranks third nationally with 17 double-doubles and is also in the Top 20 in points and rebounds average. The Academic All-District honor is the first in Rowe's career.
The 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The 25th ranked Blue Raiders return to action Saturday at Tulsa in a 12:30 p.m. tilt.
