Lt. Col. Robert D. Ogg, age 83 of Murfreesboro, died Thursday August 16, 2012. A native of Nashville, he was the son of the late Felix and Margaret Maurey Ogg. He was preceded in death by wife Fay Parsons Ogg who died in 2009.
Lt. Col. Ogg is survived by his son Brig.Gen. (Retired) R. David Ogg, Jr. and his wife Pam of Athens, Alabama, brother Jon Michael Ogg of Brentwood, and two grandsons, Jason Ogg, and Stuart Ogg of Murfreesboro.
Lt. Col. Ogg was a member of East Main Street Church of Christ. He was a 1947 graduate from Duncan College Prepatory School in Nashville, and received his BS degree in 1952 and his MA degree in 1964 from M.T.S.U. He retired from the US Army after 22 years as a Lt. Col. He was the first regular Army commissionee from M.T.S.U. and the first to return as a assistant professor in the Military Science / R.O.T.C. department. He proudly served in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War (two tours). His sixteen decorations include the Bronze Star for Valor, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantry Badge.
Visitation will be 10:00 am until time of service at 11:30 am Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Brother Wayne Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemtery with full military honors. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Steve Odom and the kind and caring staff at Adams Place. Memorials may be made to the Fisher House Foundation in memory of Lt. Col. Ogg.
