Robert Charles Melson, age 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at the Veterans Home. Mr. Melson was a native of Oklahoma City, OK and was the son of the late Charles and Gladys Brown Melson.

Graveside services will be at 3:00PM Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors. Reverend Steve Odom will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00PM to 2:30PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Melson is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita Harouff Melson; sons, Robert Charles Melson Jr. and his wife Penny of Murfreesboro and David Ross Melson and his wife Brenda of Escondido, CA; sister, Dolores Wyatt of Riverside, CA; grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Victoria, Rebecca, Samantha, Katherine Webb, Tadd Melson, Christopher Dewey and Heather Dewey-Carlson; and six great grandchildren. Mr. Melson was preceded in death by a daughter, Trene Melson Webb who died in 2010; a sister, Naoma Carey and two brothers-in-law, James Wyatt and Eugene Carey.

Mr. Melson attended Central Christian Church, was a veteran of the US Navy and was a retired Clinical Psychologist.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Heart Association.
