Robbers injure victims during weekend holdups

TMP Reports

Blackman High School’s janitor suffered a gunshot wound to his arm when robbed by four men about 9 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at a Bradyville Pike laundry, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Janitor Marc Bills, 34, of East Clark Boulevard suffered the gunshot wound to his left arm and a cut above his left eye, Officer Jason Roberts reported.

Bills told police four young men approached him in the parking lot asking for change for a $5 bill. When he told them he didn’t have change, they demanded his money. He gave them $4.

“They then demanded his wallet and keys,” Roberts reported. “He refused, then a subject pulled a black gun and fired, striking him in the arm.”

Bills ran inside the laundry and called police who treated him until paramedics arrived. Police searched for the suspects but didn’t locate them.

The robbery was one of several holdups during the holiday weekend.

In another case, Officer David Kelch reported victim Tracy Cain of Millbrook Court met at man she identified only as Mike at Dollar General about 8 p.m. Wednesday on Northwest Broad Street, then walked to the ATM where she withdrew $340.

They walked to the bridge behind Dodge’s store on Northwest Broad Street where Mike attempted to hug and kiss her, then walked down Kings Highway.

“While in the vicinity of 316 S. Kings Highway, the subject demanded that she give him the money from the ATM while displaying a knife,” Kelch reported. “Ms. Cain was afraid that she would be hurt and handed over her wallet. Ms. Cain then stated she tried to take her wallet back and in the process was cut on the hand.”

She chased the fleeing suspect, fell and cut her other hand.

In another case, Officer Anthony Skok reported victim Keith Fuller of University Terrace was robbed about 5:30a.m. Saturday near his Brown Drive Apartment by a man he identified and a man he didn’t know.

The victim heard a knock at his door. When he opened it, the man he knew struck him with a beer bottle. He suffered a cut on his head and hand. They robbed him of $260.

Another robbery occurred about 7:20 p.m. Saturday at South Rutherford Boulevard when victim Cory Jones was standing by the mailboxes and approached by three men, Officer Brittany Maxwell reported.

“One subject stuck his hand in his jacket pocket, acting like he was holding a gun and demanded Mr. Jones to give him everything he hand,” Maxwell reported. “Mr. Jones handed the subject his wallet. The subject looked through the wallet. He realized there was nothing in the wallet and threw it back at Mr. Jones.”

They fled toward Sycamore Circle.

People who have information on any of the robberies are asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
