A victim was struck on his head with a hammer during a robbery Thursday afternoon on Memorial Boulevard outside Popular Fashion clothing store, a Murfreesboro Police spokesman said.

He sought help at the Tobacco store, said spokesman Kyle Evans.

“The victim was struck in the head and transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center,” Evans said.

It was unknown if the robber intended to rob the victim individually or the store.

“At this time, we don’t know if any money was taken,” Evans said.

Police set up a perimeter in the area to search for the robber described as a white man about 18 to 25 years old. He is about 180 to 190 pounds and stands about 5-foot-10. He had a red beard and red hair with a military-style haircut. He wore blue jeans and a red and white plaid shirt.

He drove away in a green GMC or a brown Bronco, possibly outbound on Memorial Boulevard.

A white woman with a tribal tatoo on her right wrist and blood on her clothing is also sought.

People who have information about the suspect are asked to call communicators at 893-1311.
