One bandit robbed a man of his cell phone and car keys before stealing his car late Tuesday night on North Rutherford Boulevard, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victim Jim Moore of Middleborough Court parked his car about 10:45 p.m. at Campus Crossing apartments.

“Victim stated that as he reached the building he heard the son of a weapon being cocked and loaded,” Officer Jason Kenney reported.

Moore saw a man “pointing a nickel-plated semi-automatic handgun at him,” Kenney reported.

The robber told him to drop his keys, cell phone and wallet and to empty his pockets. When Moore showed the robber he didn’t have any money in his wallet, the robber allowed him to keep the wallet.

Then the suspect took Moore’s car keys, cell phone and gym bag before driving away in Moore’s 1997 Crown Victoria valued at $12,000, the officer reported.

Officer Tracey Womack located the car about 7 a.m. Wednesday on Riviera Drive. The wheels were removed and the interior burned. The suspect was described as a young black man between 18 and 25 years old. He wore a blue toboggan, yellow shirt and jeans. He had some facial hair.

People who have information about the suspect may call the Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP.

He heard the "son of a weapon?" Would that be a "son of a gun?"
The wheels must have been what escalated the price to $12,000 -- like maybe $2,000 a wheel!!

Sounds like the start of an insurance scam.

Sounds to me like Campus Crossing Apartments are becoming quite the Ghetto.

I think it was supposed to be "sound" of a weapon." Not " son" of a weapon.

Crown Vics are great cars and have resale value higher than a lot of people think. I have a '92 Crown Vic that is valued at $10, 000, so I'm not surprised at the $12,000 price tag on that one, especially if it is (was) in good condition.
