From the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office:

One Rutherford County sheriff’s deputy and an inmate escaped injury Thursday morning when the patrol car struck a guardrail on Interstate 24 near Haywood Lane in Nashville.

Deputy Joseph McCool was transporting an inmate to Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute when the back of his patrol vehicle struck the guardrail.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Communications Sgt. Tina Leinart said three crashes with injuries and four crashes without injuries were investigated this morning in the county.

I-24 was still hazardous but no specific roads in the county seemed to be especially dangerous.

“It’s not as icy as it was last time but it’s still bad,” Leinart said.
