RNC Day 3: Palin stirs up party base

At her coming out party, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin accepted her party’s nomination to be Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) running mate in November’s presidential election.

“Everybody I’ve spoken to – whether they be Democrats, Republicans, Independents – are very impressed by what she did last night,” said Ira Brody, Tennessee Republican delegate. “Let’s face it. She’s a governor of a state and you don’t get there by being a buffoon.”

Palin stirred up the crowd of Republican delegates, by introducing herself, explaining her background in life and politics and holding no punches against Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, his running mate Sen. Joe Bidden and even the national press corps.

“She spoke from the heart and with vision,” Brody said. “When she spoke of her children that was a very moving moment.”

The historic evening was capped by the official nomination of McCain as the party’s presidential candidate.

“I voted for John McCain last night,” Brody said, adding every Tennessee delegate voted for McCain, because former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the state, released his delegates and endorsed the Arizona senator.

Brody especially enjoyed former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani’s introduction of Palin.

“When he’s relaxed and able to speak from his heart, he does a really great job,” Brody said.

The Republican National Convention continues tonight with McCain’s acceptance speech.

The remark by Rudy G. from New York about Barack O. and community organizer was out of touch. I am sure a lot of community organizers helped out in the catastrophic events in 2001.

That's funny, I didn't see any coverage of the DNC on the Post...

We covered the DNC just as the RNC through the eyes of a local delegate. Some of the coverage is still posted on down the menu of local stories.

Just what the nation needs--Another Bush--a Republican who wants to take away a woman's right to choose, likes banning books at the library and wants to teach creationism in schools, no sex education in schoolsexcept in the back seat of a car in the school parking lot, a poorly equipped National Guard being sent to Iraq, experience at foreign policy by living next door to Russia, earmark experience (27 million for a town of 7,000), really great at wasting the tax papers money--not only wanting Stevens' bridge to nowhere but also a road to nowhere, great at cutting money from programs helping the poor, believes it was God's plan was to invade Irag (all those killed were fulfilling God's plan)---sounds like Bush and his conversation with God, good at telling people to pray for more pipelines and speaking in tongues (typical Republican--they have been doing that since 1854) wants to spend more than tax receipts and leaving the nation in debt--Wasilla 20 million in debt as a result of her spending.
If you want four more years of Bush --you will get it with Palin and John McCain.

Also, I would rather have an organizer in DC, than a person who is disorganized. If Barack gets in, he will have a mess to clean up.

I hope people don't vote for her just because they consider it "exciting"......WHAT-ever

Ira Brody commented, "you don’t get there by being a buffoon.” However, one should wonder how someone who behaves like a buffoon gets to represent the state of TN as a delegate. I found his charades on camera to be humiliating, causing me to question just how our great state selects delegates.
