From Rutherford County Schools:
A 16-year-old male sophomore was arrested Monday morning after a 14-year-old freshman reported she had been raped at school Friday afternoon.
The victim reported the assault occurred between sixth and seventh period Friday in a bathroom at the school, just after the seventh period bell had sounded. The Murfreesboro Police Department is investigating the assault and all media inquiries should be directed to Kyle Evans, the public information officer for the police department.
The school district has removed the male student from school pending the outcome of the investigation, and he will not be permitted to attend any Rutherford County school for now to ensure the safety of students. At this time, the school district will not be making any additional comments because of the ongoing criminal investigation and because the allegations involve minors.
However, we want parents to know that we place a priority on student safety, and the best way we can serve our students is to provide the police with any information they need to complete their investigation. |
