The Riverdale girls (28-3) jumped to a quick 9-0 lead and never trailed in winning the Basketball District Tournament final over Oakland 67-43.
Oakland is now 25-6 on the season.
In the win Riverdale had 28 rebounds and 12 turnovers while Oakland won the rebound battle with 30 boards but had 24 turnovers. Riverdale led by only 12 points at the half but put the game away by winning the third quarter 19-8.
Shacobia Barbee led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 24 points and Shelbie Davenport had 17.
Ellen Riggins had 12 points for Oakland while Emily Eubank had 10. Riggins now has 973 points in her career.
Riverdale’s next game will be at home in the Region Tournament versus Shelbyville (15-17). Tip off at Riverdale's Johnny Parsley Memorial Gym will be 7 p.m.
Oakland will also be at home at 7 p.m. Friday in the region’s first round versus Lincoln County (17-12).

In the consolation game, the Blackman girls (21-5) led by only eight at the half but won the second half 31-13 and beat Smyrna (11-22) with a score of 57-31.
Blackman had 26 rebounds and only 10 turnovers while Smyrna had 18 and 16.
Chelsey Hall and Kortney Cox had 12 points each for the Blaze while Treasure Hunt had 11 and Savannah McIntyre had 9 for the Bulldogs.
Smyrna’s next game will be at Lawrence County (23-6) at 7 p.m. Friday in Region play while Blackman will be at Franklin County (19-12) on the same night, also at 7 p.m.
NOTE: After Friday’s games, all surviving teams will go to Shelbyville to finish the tournament on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. This could change if District 7AAA sweeps the first round.
