The Riverdale High School girls basketball team advanced to the TSSAA Blue Cross State Girls Basketball Tournament finals with a win over Memphis Central on Friday morning.

Riverdale ran their record to 34-0 with an 85-64 win over longtime rival Memphis Central. The outcome was not in doubt after the half as Riverdale shot 54 percent from the floor.

The Lady Warriors will take on the Science Hill-Memphis Overton game winner at 2 o'clock Saturday, March 9, and Tennessee AAA Miss Basketball winner will also be named after the game. Riverdale’s Olivia Jones and Alexa Middleton are up for the award along with Nina Davis of Memphis Central.

In the victory, Davis was the leading scorer with 31.

For Riverdale, Tyisha Petty had 23, Olivia Jones had 22 with nine rebounds, Alexa Middleton had 13 points, six rebounds and eight assists, while Shelbie Davenport had 14 points along with Tiffany Lewis who had 11.

If Riverdale can win this weekend, they will have back-to-back state championships and four in the last six years.
