MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Dr. Marcus A. Owen has joined the rheumatology department at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, company officials announced Tuesday.
Owen, who is a native of Hot Springs, Ark., is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine for both internal medicine and rheumatology.
Prior to joining the medical field, Owen earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and studied forestry under a Fulbright Scholarship in Chile.
After studying in southern Chile, Owen returned to the United States to attended medical school at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where he also completed his internship and residency.
He then completed a two-year fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
After practicing for two years in Mississippi, Owen moved to Tennessee in 2009. He spent four years practicing in downtown Nashville before opening his own practice, Stones River Rheumatology, in Murfreesboro.
While Owen is qualified to diagnose and treat adults with rheumatic and immunologic diseases, his emphasis will be on scleroderma, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, gout and lupus, in addition to less common conditions.
