Detective Sgt. Mickey McCullough is investigating allegations against Blackman High School teacher Warren Johnson, who resigned last week. Because the case is under investigation, the sheriff’s office can’t comment until the investigation is concluded.

Anyone who has information in reference to Mr. Johnson’s allegations of inappropriate or illegal behavior with female students should contact Blackman High School Resource Officer Mark Meshotto, who will forward the information to McCullough, or call McCullough at 904-3043 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The district attorney’s office is aware of the investigation.

How many of these allegations has the Rutherford County School system had in the past five years or so? It seems this sort of thing is out of control. Maybe we need a leadership change and a significantly improved processs of vetting teachers.

How can this kind of conduct continue to take place with no teachers, principals, or school officials noticing...or do they and just not follow through by reporting it?
