Two residents were whimpering and hiding in a bedroom after a home invasion about 7 p.m. Wednesday on Olympia Place off Mercury Boulevard, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Two Hispanic men armed with handguns robbed residents Humberto Martinez and Maribel Montoya of two flat screen TVs and headphones, Officer Hayley Alden reported.

While responding to the call, Alden noticed two men in dark clothing jump out of a truck in the driveway and flee over a fence in the back of the house. She found the scared residents inside a bedroom.

“The residents advised two males had come into their house and robbed them,” Alden reported.

One robber carried a silver handgun and the second one carried a black revolver, she reported. They were described as Hispanic men.

Police towed the truck away from the scene for safekeeping.

In an unrelated case, Officer Tracey Womack reported someone stole $15,000 worth of savings bonds and $15,000 worth of silver coins from Aubrey G. Cole, 82, of White Boulevard.

Cole kept the property in his car but couldn’t find it. The bonds and coins were missing during the past five weeks.

Another day, another home invasion. We need stiffer penalties for these punks.

And who stores $30,000 worth of stuff in their car?
