Dental records may be used to identify a body found in a burned home Monday morning on Fox Hollow Road, a sheriff detective said.

One body was found about 5 a.m. Monday near the rear of the home off U.S. Highway 41 (Manchester Highway), said Detective Randy Groce.

“Only one person was at the house at the time of the fire to our knowledge,” Groce said. “The other person who lived there was spending the night with friends.”

Groce obtained the name of the person’s dentist to compare dental records with the body. Paramedics were transporting the body to the state medical examiner’s office to determine the identity and cause of death.

Deputy Larry McMahan reported he found the house engulfed in flames when he arrived. Witnesses were unsure if anyone was inside.

Southeast Rutherford Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded and battled the blaze.

Groce said the house was a complete loss. Cause of the fire remains under investigation because flames kept flaring up when Groce and Murfreesboro Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas examined the home.

The house is owned by George Frazell of Huntsville, Ala., and was valued at $90,000.
