Several men kicked and struck a renter with a handgun during a home invasion Wednesday evening on Rutherford Boulevard, Murfreesboro Police reported.
Victim Brett Smith, 18, was treated for his injuries at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Officer Curtis Brinkley reported.
Smith was at home when he heard a knock on the door. When he opened the door, four or five men ran in.
“The first black male had a handgun and was pointing it at him,” Brinkley reported. “The second black male was seen with a handgun.”
Smith told Brinkley the first man asked, “Where’s the money?” When Smith replied, “What money?” one of the men struck him in the head with the butt of the gun.
“He fell and was then kicked in the head,” Brinkley reported. “There were signs of an assault. Mr. Smith said they then took his laptop and ran out.”
Smith told Brinkley his roommate’s ex-girlfriend is dating one of the men who came inside the apartment and assaulted him.
