Voluntarily giving a blood donation is a great reward in itself, but the American Red Cross and Red Cross Racing are upping the ante by giving away a brand new car.
Thanks to a generous donation by the Ford Motor Company, the Red Cross is giving away a 2011 Ford Fiesta to one lucky winner.

Every time you record your blood or platelet donations online, you’ll get points which can be exchanged for cool prizes.
Red Cross Racing is an innovative program designed to encourage NASCAR fans to donate blood through the Red Cross.
Thanks to on-going support from 3M Company, the Red Cross has two full paint schemes on the Rousch Fenway No. 16 Ford Fusion this racing season.
We were at the New Hampshire race on Sunday, June 27 and will be at the Texas race on Sunday, Nov. 7.
So, before you put that first hot dog on the grill or open your package of sparklers, please consider scheduling a blood donation appointment with the Red Cross. You never know, you could Red, White and Vroom! your way to a brand new car!
Locally you may give blood on the following dates:
• Tuesday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Smyrna Lions Club located at 314 S. Lowry St. in Smyrna.
• Wednesday, July 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rutherford County Courthouse located on Public Square in Murfreesboro.
• Wednesday, July 21, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Belle Aire Baptist Church located at 1307 N. Rutherford Blvd. in Murfreesboro.
• Sunday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church – Knights of Columbus located at 10602 Old Nashville Highway in Smyrna.
• Wednesday, July 28, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Building 107 located at 3400 Lebanon Road in Murfreesboro.
• Friday, July 30, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lanes, Trains and Automobiles located at 405 Butler Drive in Murfreesboro.
In addition, the Murfreesboro Donor Center located at 836 Commercial Court is open:
• 1st, 4th and 5th Sunday, 7 a.m. to 12 noon
• Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday & Wednesday, Closed
• Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon

How to Donate Blood:
Call 1-800-RED CROSS or log on to redcrossblood.org for more information or to schedule a blood donation appointment.
All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply.
A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 with completed Parental Consent Form).
New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger than 19.
