I hope the people of Murfreesboro respond to this crisis in a big way. Not even a year has passed since the Good Friday tornado so the images of the destruction should still be fresh in our collective memory. Imagine that after the tornado struck, there were NO firetrucks, NO rescue squads, NO police, NO ANYTHING to help. The people of Haiti are suffering and they need help! We can't be there to help look for survivors or hand out water like we did in the Boro but we can donate money to organizations like the Red Cross so they can provide that water for us. The images coming out of the country are heartbreaking and the next few days are critical in saving as many lives as possible.
I've already donated via text and it was easy and secure. Surely most people can afford $5 or $10 added to their cell phone bill this month. That's about the cost of one fast food meal and can make a HUGE difference in providing needed resources to these poor people.
