The Murfreesboro Donor Center is open on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“The Red Cross asks that you remember to add donating blood to your list of important things to do this fall,” says Steve Beeler, CEO, Tennessee Valley Region. “Giving a pint of blood at a Red Cross blood center or drive can add months or years to the life of a patient in need.”

Blood must be on hospital shelves ready for an accident or trauma victim. It’s also needed for patients at area hospitals with scheduled surgeries – from heart surgeries to joint replacements, organ transplants to cancer treatments, the need for blood and platelets is ongoing.

How to Donate Blood:
Simply call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) to make an appointment today. All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply. A blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 with completed Parental Consent Form). New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger than 19. Visit bloodisneeded.org to learn more.
