Record 90 pounds of marijuana seized | MARIJUANA

Mark Lucas, Jody Bence and Christopher Linn Olander are suspects in a drug bust of a record breaking 90 pounds of marijuana.
Ninety pounds of marijuana, with a street value of more than $400,000, won’t be making it to the streets after Murfreesboro Police vice detectives confiscated the illegal drug from a car and home Thursday, a spokesman said.

The 90 pounds of marijuana, packaged in hermetically sealed bags, is believed a record amount seized in Murfreesboro. The marijuana was believed to be “BC Bud,” a high-potency marijuana originating in British Columbia, Canada.

“It’s a large scale,” said Maj. Clyde Adkison. “We don’t get more than $400,000 worth of marijuana very much.”

Suspects Jody Bence, 40, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mark Pendleton Lucas, 22, and Christoper Linn Olander, 23, both of 3114 Bonard Court were charged with felony possession of more than 70 pounds of marijuana with the intent to sell and criminal conspiracy. Both Lucas and Olander were additionally charged with maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling drugs.

Vice Detective Jeff Keaton, with help from other vice detectives, began surveillance about 3 p.m. Wednesday outside Embassy Suites Hotel on Medical Center Parkway as part of an ongoing drug investigation, Adkison said. Rutherford County sheriff’s Interstate Crime Enforcement unit assisted in the case.

“He observed what appeared to be a drug transaction among three suspects,” Adkison said.

Detectives seized 30 pounds of marijuana from the car, he said. The investigation led to Lucas and Olander’s home where detectives searched their home.

“They found 60 more pounds of marijuana,” Adkison said, later adding, “This was obviously a large scale operation operating in the city of Murfreesboro.”

Detectives confiscated more than $10,000 cash, three televisions, electronics, two vehicles, a money counting machine, professional scales and a sealer to remove the air from the packages.

Adkison said he could not give details about the ongoing investigation.

Hearings for the suspects are pending in General Sessions Court.

How does a person that age get that kind of money? You can't tell me there is not a big money man in the mix here. People think thugs bring drugs, but thugs can't afford to front out this much money. I'd say there is a business man involved here looking for a better return on investment than the banks, and for sure the stock markets offer.

Yes, this is awesome and it used to make me proud to read where we are getting drug dealers off the street. However, I just learned from a DA in Rutherford County that unless they are a THREE time offender they will most likely only get little jail time and probabtion. I know of a guy who got 3 years for growing 96 plants, served 11 months got out on parole then grew 70+ plants AGAIN got caught and only got 10 years probabtion - NO JAIL TIME, out on the streets to do it again - why do we put these police officers in danger to just put them back on the streets again? And yes there IS a business man involved in the shadows, he is the smart one, he just has these little guys do all the dirty work for him while he makes all the money and never gets jail time. That's the person they need to be after.

I can tell anyone that reads this article that the cops are exaggerating on many many things. They did NOT find 10,000 bucks in the house In fact no money was found at the house. The part that says, “They found 60 more pounds of marijuana,” Adkison said. WRONG. Adkison is a liar, it was 40 pounds that was found in the house. Don't ask how I know this cause I'm not telling. Just don't believe everything you read... especially when it's a-hole cops trying to brag about how good of a job they did. They should know by now how the drug world works... Take out one dealer... 3 more jump in to supply the demand. Another classic example of how the drug laws don't work. Noodle on this thought for a moment... Pot has been illegal in this country since 1937. The fact that they are still fighting this supposed war should show that the current way of handling this issue, ISNT WORKING.

Devolver, Have you by chance seen the Tommy Chong special? You are so totally right. I dont see war on caffine, nocotine or alachol, all "addictive" although I guess when someone who kills someone's son while under the influence and get's 6 months jail time maybe just maybe the Rutherford County DA's office is trying to do their job (NOT!)
