No one was injured when a man allegedly fired at handgun at hunters and juveniles fired a BB gun at drivers during the weekend, sheriff’s deputies reported.

Suspect James McGlasson, 49, of Christiana, was charged with reckless endangerment after he allegedly fired at the hunters Friday, Cpl. Travis Robinson reported.

The hunters heard the man come outside and yell.

“He then fired five rounds from a handgun,” Robinson reported.

Deputies located McGlasson who reported he fired the handgun in an attempt to scare the hunters whom he didn’t know. Five shell casings were recovered.

McGlasson was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set Jan. 14 in General Sessions Court.

In an unrelated case, Deputy Clint Teasley charged two boys ages 14 and 15, with firing a BB gun into two vehicles traveling Friday on Manson Pike.

The rounds struck a vehicle driven by Kimberly Yarbrough of Cordova, Tenn., and her passenger, Melanie Napier of Memphis, shattering the windshield.

Also, rounds struck an Isuzu Rodeo driven by Jameel Peters of Boyd Drive. His wife, 4-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter were inside the vehicle.

Deputies and Murfreesboro Police set up a perimeter and searched for the suspects. Lt. David Hailey noticed a bonfire in a wooded area near Manson Pike and made contact with the boys and their air gun.

Teasley charged both boys with six counts of aggravated assault and two counts of vandalism. A hearing was set Monday in Juvenile Court.
