Ten pounds of marijuana, cocaine and $15,786 cash were seized from three suspects during unrelated investigations Thursday, a sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau detective said. Suspect Melvin Rollins, 38, of Sewanee, Tenn., was charged with felony possession of marijuana after SEB agents confiscated the illegal marijuana from him during a traffic stop off Almaville Road, Detective Sedric Fields said. Rollins was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and later released on bond. A hearing is set June 1 in General Sessions Court. In another case, suspects James Nick Howington, 24, of Knoxville, and companion Tyler Cameron Napier, 21, of Bristol, were charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cocaine was found inside the 2008 Lexus they occupied off Almaville Road, Fields said. Napier and Howington were allegedly trying to sell a 1999 Volkswagen Passat stolen from a Rutherford County citizen, the detective said. Additional charges may be pending against them. Hearings for Napier and Howington were set June 1 in General Sessions Court. |
