RCS awarded Energy Efficient Schools Council grant

NASHVILLE – The Energy Efficient Schools Initiative has approved additional energy efficient projects for schools to receive incentive grants from the Energy Efficient Schools Council Fund.

Rutherford County Schools was awarded $741,480 for lighting projects.

The grants provide incentives for energy efficient upgrades in Tennessee’s public K-12 school districts.

The council has allocated grant and loan funds to all 136 K-12 school districts in Tennessee.

School districts apply for these funds through applications to the Energy Efficient Schools Initiative “EESI”. Application forms for lighting, HVAC, kitchen equipment, motors and drives can be found on the EESI web site at www.tn.gov/eesi.

The EESI Web site provides incentive grant allocations available to all 136 public school districts in Tennessee and other information to assist schools become more energy efficient.

EESI Executive Director, Ron Graham, stated that these projects bring the total of grant incentives awarded to school districts to $5,624,625 from the Energy Efficient Schools Council Fund.
