Quick thinking by a Kroger employee catches serial robber during get-away attempt.

On Dec. 28 around 12:51 p.m., Murfreesboro Police dispatch received a 911 call of a robbery in progress at the Kroger Pharmacy on Northfield Boulevard.

Philip Perry, 50, of Murfreesboro, went to the pharmacy window, demanded a certain type of drug and told the clerk he had a gun.

The clerk followed his instructions and the robber left the store.

But as Perry approached the pharmacy window, another employee recognized him from a video of another robbery and called 911.

The employee gave a good description of the suspect and his actions, along with a description of the get-away vehicle, a gold Crown Marquis.

As Perry left the Kroger parking lot onto Broad Street, an MPD officer pulled Perry over and was arrested. A search of the Crown Marquis found a weapon and the stolen drugs.

During questioning, Perry confessed to the Kroger robbery, along with seven additional pharmacy robberies in Murfreesboro.

Perry was charged with two counts of armed robbery.

Dang why did they have to take him alive? It'll just cost the tax payers money. We need to stop crime not enforce the law, whatever that means.
