“Saddle Up for Project Help” gets bigger and better every year.
Thus far, “Saddle Up” has generated an all-time high in cash sponsorships; that’s a good thing, because Project Help Director Susan Waldrop is making big plans for the proceeds from the July 29 event.
“Naturally, we enjoy the visibility and awareness that Saddle Up generates for Project Help. It has been gratifying to observe folks in the community gaining a clearer idea of what our programs provide. We, of course, find significant outcomes from our home-based services, but it has become quite apparent that the Rutherford County community needs a much larger center-based facility,” she said.
The facility provides early intervention services in a preschool environment. Project Help is the only early intervention program in Rutherford County meeting the needs of young children with developmental delays or disabilities at no cost to their families. Project Help is operating at capacity, and maintains a significant waiting list of children who need the early intervention services it provides.
“All families want a quality preschool that addresses their children’s individual needs and supports diversity. For those who have children with special needs, the natural, inclusive environment of an expanded Project Help would offer one-stop early childhood services along with the companion therapies. Our latest ‘Parent/Family Needs Assessment’ found that one place for a wrap-around of these services would be extremely beneficial. Our goal for the 2010 Saddle Up for Project Help is to have start-up funding in order to take purposeful steps to acquire a larger building,” Waldrop said.
To support Project Help’s expansion, mark your calendars and attend “Saddle Up for Project Help”, slated for Thursday, July 29 at 6:30 p.m. on the Tower Club Level of MTSU’s Floyd Stadium.
For only $50 per ticket, guests will be treated to a fun, casual western-themed evening with a barbecue dinner, live entertainment from Daniel Rothwell with Thomas Maupin, then music from “Jack and Diane”.
The event’s “country fair” atmosphere will feature a silent auction as well as artists at work. The evening’s highlight will be the live-auction of two custom playhouses built and donated by Haynes Brothers and Ole South Properties.
