The Power of Pink Goes Green wine and cheese event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 at Wayne and Kathy Noble’s home in Mirabella.

All proceeds will go to the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition, which provides emergency assistance to women undergoing breast cancer treatment, as well as supporting breast cancer education and awareness. “

An important part of dealing with the disease is for the patient to have a sense of renewal, hope and recovery.” event co-chair Leslie Akins said. “This sense of ‘renewal’ is highlighted by MTMC’s giveaway of a green reusable shopping bag.”

Marty LaRoche Murphy, long-time Murfreesboro resident and cancer survivor, will be this year’s Power of Pink honoree. While the wine and cheese event is free, donations will be accepted at the door, sponsorship opportunities are available, and there will be a silent auction.

Auction items include exciting vacations, fine-cooking lessons, wine tasting, dinner packages, local artwork, handcrafted jewelry and home décor.

“Breast cancer is a disease that affects not only the woman or man, but the family, friends and community,” Akins said. “These auction items emphasize spiritual, physical and emotional rejuvenation.” Middle Tennessee Medical Center’s Center for Breast Health is the presenting sponsor for this year’s event.

Sponsors include Goodness Gracious Café & Catering, Granny’s Gourmet, Julia’s Home-style Bakery, Murfreesboro Magazine, Newk’s Express Café and Stones River Total Beverages For more information, email Leslie Akins at lesliakins@comcast.net or Rita Ash at rash@bellsouth.net.
