Post names new publisher | Ron Fryar, Mike Pirtle

Post Publisher Ron Fryar
The Murfreesboro Post is pleased to announce a new addition to its staff.

Long-time newspaperman Ron Fryar took the driver’s seat of The Post as its new publisher last week.

“I’m excited to be back in Murfreesboro,” Fryar said. “Taking the reins of The Post will give me not only the opportunity to renew both personal and professional relationships with many of my friends and business acquaintances here, but also allow me to work with a dedicated and vibrant staff. We look forward to the challenge of providing our readers with a solid local source of news and information.”

Fryar takes the place of former Post Publisher and President Mike Pirtle, who will continue to work with The Post as an owner and contributor. Michelle Willard will work as The Post editor.

The MTSU graduate comes to The Murfreesboro Post with more than 30 years experience in the industry, having formerly worked as publisher of the Daily News Journal from 1993-2004, publisher of the Review Appeal and Franklin Publishing Company from 2002-2004 and vice president of Operations for American Hometown Publishing from 2005-2009.

"We are pleased to attract a leader with Ron's newspaper experience and unique knowledge of this market. We believe it will serve readers and advertisers very well," said Tim Choate, The Murfreesboro Post board chairman.

Fryar will be splitting his time between The Post and the Cannon County Courier in Woodbury. He bought the weekly community paper last year.

Fryar has been active in the Tennessee Press Service Tennessee Press Association as past president and director of both organizations. He has also served as the state chairman of the National Newspaper Association and a founding member and past director of the Tennessee Coalition for Open Government.

In the past, Fryar was very active in the Murfreesboro community, serving with the MTSU Foundation, Main Street: Murfreesboro/Rutherford County and Rutherford County-Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce.

What on earth is happening??!! All of the sudden, there were no online Posts! Now a new publisher. I have asked several times to have the paper version of the Post delivered to our "out of city" address, to no avail. I enjoyed, so much, the MURFREESBORO news. Hope it continues.

I heard Lisa Marchesoni was gone...is that true? If so, who else is 'gone'? Could/would you please print a list of the staff? Thanks!

Best of luck Ron, I expect great local coverage to continue.
Abide, not sure of your issue with Courier but my family still likes it.

Abide, there is no such thing as "luck" in the newspaper business. You either know what you're doing or you don't. Fryar has a fantastic record in this industry... Please do your homework.
