Mr. Football Nick Pollard clutches award for Kicker of the Year.
One Smyrna resident captured the 2009 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Award for Kicker of the Year while two linemen were runner-ups during the annual luncheon Monday at Embassy Suites.

Nick Pollard of Smyrna, who is a senior at Father Ryan High School, earned the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. Lineman Chris Mayes of Riverdale High School and Tim McAdoo of Oakland High School were runner-ups.

Former Titans wide receiver Chris Sanders presented the awards during the luncheon sponsored by Titans owner/founder Bud Adams and the Tennessee Titans Foundation. Football coaches and the media nominated players and sportswriters chose the finalists.

Pollard won the award after he made all 30 extra points and 36 of 44 field goals with the longest field goal at 53 yards.

He is the son of Scott and Jennifer Pollard of Smyrna. He attended Rock Springs Elementary and Middle schools before transferring to Ryan.

Mayes, an offensive and defensive tackle for Riverdale, made 51 tackles, six sacks and three fumble recoveries with one returned as a touchdown.

He was a District 7 Most Valuable Player.

McAdoo, also an offensive and defensive tackle for Oakland, made 55 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles. He is an All-State player.
