A Rutherford County woman shot multiple times and left for dead crawled 50 feet where motorists stopped to help her early Sunday, a sheriff’s detective said.
The 29-year-old La Vergne woman remains hospitalized, Detective Ty Downing said Tuesday afternoon. Her name is not being released yet.
She was riding with three other people about 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Beesley Road in the Blackman community.
“The woman was forced out of the car,” Downing said. “She was shot multiple times and basically left for dead. She managed to crawl approximately 50 feet to the roadway where she was found by some citizens.”
They spotted her in the road, swerved and stopped to help when they realized the object in the road was a woman.
Emergency Medical Services paramedics treated her before taking her to the hospital.
“I have been able to talk to her,” Downing said. “She has been communicating with me.”
Two of the people involved have been identified, he said. Detectives are trying to identify the third person in the car.
More details are expected later in the probe.
