The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. near the 2000 block of Sherrill Boulevard.

Officials with the Murfreesboro Police Department have released few details about the shooting, but detectives have confirmed that at least one person was shot during the incident.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Middle Tennessee Medical Center soon after police arrived on the scene.

Several witnesses told police two black male suspects, one of who was possibly wearing a red shirt, fled the area on foot immediately after the shooting.

A K-9 Unit also responded to the area to search for the suspects.

Police have not said whether the suspects have been apprehended.

Further information will likely not be released until Wednesday morning.
