Police caught two suspects apparently in the act of stealing a console from a car early Wednesday morning on Memorial Boulevard, an officer reported.

Officer Aaron Price was patrolling at 1:22 a.m. on Memorial Boulevard when he saw two men running at Car Zone. When he got out of his car, he saw two individuals, Aaron Scott Dahmen and Andrew Charles Gammil standing in front of a car.

“Aaron was in the driver seat of a car that belonged to Car Zone,” Price reported. “Aaron had a screwdriver in his hand and was attempting to remove the center console to a 1995 white Honda Civic.”

Gammil, who stood in front of the Honda, walked away when he saw Price approach.

Price asked Dahmen what he was doing.

“Aaron told me he was attempting to take the center console out of the car,” Price reported.

Price detained both suspects until detectives arrived. Police obtained consent to search the car where they found burglary tools.

“Upon my investigation, I determine that both Aaron and Andrew broke into the car to steal a center console at Car Zone,” Price reported.

Price charged Dahmen, 20, of Islington Drive and Gammil, 18, of Split Rail Road were charged with auto burglary and possession of burglary tools. They were booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where their hearings are set Feb. 5 in General Sessions Court.
