I agree that some sequels are better than the originals. On the same topic of movies but on a slightly different note, films that are remade are sometimes better than the original as. I have been a fan of the original Footloose all of my life. When I heard the news a few years ago that they were going to remake it I was quite livid. I saw no need to ruin such a classic movie with a remake.
I was basically dragged into theaters to see it when it came out and was actually pleasantly surprised. Don’t grab our torches and pitchforks just yet, let me explain why. The new version replaced Kevin Bacon with young Kenny Wormald and Lori Singer with Dancing with the Stars Juilanne Hough. The film had the same witty come backs as the first as well as the same general story-line. Enough was changed in this remake to make it seem relatable to this newer generation but also hold the meaning of the original film. Ren still drove his old yellow VW Bug and Ariel still had her red boots. As far as remakes go, this one was done very well in my opinion. After watching it, I took all my previous skepticism back and gave it two thumbs up. Whether or not it is truly better than the original is up for debate with some people, but I know where I stand.
