Philas Clay Tucker, age 83, of Murfreesboro, went to be with the Lord and Savior on February 3, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County and attended North Boulevard Church of Christ. Philas was a WWII Army Veteran serving in Germany. He worked for Carnation Milk Plant for 32 years. After retiring he then worked at Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital for 17 years. Philas was an avid golfer and pool player. He was a member of Mt. Marion Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
Philas was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny James Tucker and Winnie Mays Tucker; his first wife, Walene Tucker and second wife, Johnny Tucker; son, Larry Clay Tucker; five brothers and one sister. He is survived by longtime friend and caregiver, Nell Reed; his sons, Jerry Tucker of Murfreesboro, David (Cathy) Tucker of Milton and Paul Tucker of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Chapel service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Buford Humphree. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
Visitation with the family with will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011 with Masonic Rite held at 5 p.m. on Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home; 820 South Church St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130. 615-893-2422.
