Peggy Ann Westbrooks Cranker, a native and lifelong resident of Murfreesboro, died on January 28, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Murfreesboro Mayor W. H. Westbrooks and Allie Clark Becton Westbooks. Her husband of 67 years, Arthur Cranker, survives, along with cousins, friends, and kind neighbors.
Peggy attended MTSU and was a homemaker. She was a volunteer at the VA and an organist.
She has been a member of First Baptist Church for 73 years. The heredity organizations in which she held membership include the following: Plantagenet Society, Magna Charta Dames, Captain Thomas Jameson Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists, Col. Hardy Murfree Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and Gen. John Coffee Chapter United States Daughters of 1812.
Services will be conducted by Pam Pilote, Minister to Senior Adults at First Baptist Church, at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Music will be provided by Gayle Barrett. Pallbearers are Dean Pearson, Ben Cates, Steve Cates, W. P. Allen, Jr., Tim Morton, David Cates, and Dave Shirk. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
