MRS. PATRICIA ADELAIDE NEELD PHILLIPS, age 84, passed away February 4, 2010. A native of Calvert County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Almos and Viva Neeld and was married to the late James Paul Phillips, originally from Martin, TN. She is survived by one son, Mark Neeld Phillips, daughter-in-law Nancy Phillips, two grandchildren Samuel Phillips and Clarice Phillips, one sister, Shirley Neeld Degges and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Phillips was a graduate of Stevens College and the University of Maryland. She worked for the CIA, NIH, and the Marriot Corporation. As the wife of a United States diplomat, she was a noted political hostess. Pat traveled the world throughout her life, having lived in Mexico, Taiwan, Vietnam, India, the Phillipines, Hong Kong, and Washington, D.C.

Pat made friends easily and will be remembered for her quick wit, sharp mind, and ready laugh. Pat had a lifelong love of opera, her favorite being Aida by Verdi. She enjoyed volunteering at the Smithsonian, archeological digs, reading, travel, and family history. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

A service of remembrance will be held in the chapel at Riderwood Community in Silver Springs, Maryland, Thursday the 11th of February at 10:00 AM with interment at Arlington National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
